Day 3 of Nature’s Classroom:

Today was a beautiful day at Nature’s Classroom. We started the day with a 2 hour tag game called Predator/ Prey. Each student belonged to a specific species in the food chain from a few hawks to larger groups of snakes, frogs and  insects. By the time the game was only a few insects, snakes and frogs were left.  After lunch, the students attended their field groups where they created skits for the evening program. Then they went to the elective they choose at lunch. Some of their choices were geodes, bottle rockets, feed your face, camouflage, cryptography, and rocks rock. Of course, the day ended with a campfire and funny, creative skits from the staff and all the students. Before we went to bed, we sang around the campfire as the moon rose in the night sky.  Tomorrow, the students will clean their cabins and attend one last field group before heading back to Dover. See you all tomorrow around 2:00.

Day 2 Update:

Our students got to choose their own science electives today. Some of the classes were water rockets, tesselations, hot air balloons,  shark and frog dissections, and pond critters. Then we  finished the day with a great hour and a half night hike.

We never heard any thunder last night and just got some well needed rain. The 5th grade students participated in a great science fair last night where they participated in team building activities and science demonstrations. Today we all went on great field trips to see the tornado damage from last year, search for frogs, pond studies, fixed a waterfall, and looked for edible plants.

  1. Looks like the storm has passed without too much fanfare. Still, the natural fireworks were a lively ending to a great day! I enjoyed all the activities–dissecting a sheep’s brain was fascinating, and the activities at Quest tonight were interesting and fun! Looking forward to what’s in store tomorrow, but first…a good night’s sleep!

  3. Dear Mr. Wadness,
Nature’s Classroom was very fun! My favorite parts were Thursday Night Live and Predator/Prey. Rocky and Dave were really good cooks and I loved all of the food they made for us. All of the NC teachers were fun and crazy and put on awesome classes. My favorite class was geodes because I got to keep them. My point is Nature’s Classroom was awesome.

  4. Dear Mr.Wadness
I loved Natures Classroom. It was hard to leave early. And its harder to listen to everyone talking about all the fun had after I left. But with all the time I had there it was super fun. My favorite part was probably transition time. Gaga Ball was incredible. My favorite activity was Bubbles even though it felt like it was just so the teachers could have there cars washed. Again overall a great expierence.Bye
